Three things worth knowing before you shortlist a model.
Iris patterns are stable across a lifetime and do not wear out with age or manual labour. For mines, chemical plants and national ID programmes, fingerprint failure rates make iris the practical choice.
Face recognition can be defeated by a good photograph or mask. Iris requires a live eye and cannot be reproduced from an image — which is why border control and high-security sites pair the two.
Iris capture needs a working distance of roughly 20–40cm and reasonable lighting. Allow a second per person at peak times. For enrollment, budget a USB scanner per workstation; for doors, one terminal per lane.
